It is very unfortunate that Nigerians have to demand to be protected from evil content yet the National Film and Video Censors Board claims to be doing its job. The rather pornographic Big Brother Naija which is part of Big Brother Africa has caused anger and disgust in Nigeria with many citizens feeling exposed and unprotected.
The programme is not only inappropriate but nasty, no responsible citizen can watch its contents without having to swiftly change the channel. This is a programme that you can't watch with family as it is pure pornography.
Even the TV Reality shows in other countries do not contain the obscenity we are watching in the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria. There is a great danger in importing the destructive foreign lifestyle to Nigeria. Explicit sexual overtures which appeal to the prurient interest in sex damages a country’s moral ecology in an analogous way in which oil pollutant damages a country’s ecology.
Nudists and advocates of free sex and promiscuity will have achieved a lot of this programme continues to run in the Federal Government of Nigeria. The most unlucky thing is that the same can be watched on youtube and other social media platforms.
Besides the nudity scenes, the reality show encourages abuse of alcohol and betting, everything that is ailing our society.
The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), was established by Act 85 of 1993 as the official regulatory agency for the film and video sector of the Nigerian economy. It prides itself as the body responsible for protecting Nigerians from harmful content but is this the case? Are Nigerian children and families protected?
The Nigerian public expects that this reality TV is regulated and censored and banned if it flaunts the laws and policies, this has not been done.
Since the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation has failed in its job, we demand that the Federal Minister takes decisive action and cancels the show once and for all.

The ongoing TV Reality show, Big Brother Nigeria is indeed a corruption of TV Reality shows. The Nigerian public is complaining about the moral perversity in the House of Big Brother Nigeria. In one episode last two weeks or so, the inmates were shown openly kissing and caressing one another. This is a celebration of obscenity, eroticism and idleness.
More importantly, it is a big mockery of Nigerian culture and tradition. Since the inmates are Nigerians, they should have been projecting the Nigerian cultural heritage. But instead of doing that, they are bastardizing it. When Endernol, the Dutch, first conceived the idea of BBA in 1997, open kissing and caressing by the inmates and celebration of obscenity were never considered by him.

The Federal Minister for Information and Culture must stop this show from airing since the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) seems complacent.
