STOP the Istanbul Convention in Croatia - CROATIAN CITIZENS ASK FOR YOUR HELP
Croatia is facing the ratification of the Istanbul Convention. Its contraversial parts are gender ideology and the supervisory body GREVIO which has been given too much authority. These represent a loss of state sovereignty in a legislative, executive and financial sense.
There is currently a media blackout of the opponents of the Istanbul Convention. Even the right-wing and conservative-oriented political parties have been ignoring the demands of citizens and the opinions voiced by scientific, cultural and religious institutions.
Croatian society was built on Christian foundations. Gender ideology and its ideas are unacceptable for the majority of the Croatian citizens. The Istanbul Convention is incompatible with the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and does not respect the values of the Croatian people.
Therefore, we demand the creation of a document concerning the protection of women which will not contain an ideological framework, which will not deprive the state of its sovereignity in any sense, which will be scientifically founded, and which will serve its purpose, which is to prevent violence against women.

Petition to: Prime Minister Andrej Plenković
Dear Mr. Plenković,
Concerning the Istanbul Convention, we demand that the following requests of the Croatian citizens be met:
- to stop the pressure from the European Union and the Council of Europe;
- to end the media blackout on reporting the opinions of the opponents of the convention;
- to take into consideration the official standpoint of the supreme scientific institution in Croatia, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the opinion of the Scientific Council for Education, as well as the opionion of other scientific, cultural and religious institutions;
- to acknowledge the results of the public hearing in which 80% of the citizens voted against the Istanbul Convention;
- to conduct interdisciplinary scientific research and to publicize the relevant results in order to make the best decisions both for the protection of women and the society as a whole;
- that the Croatian authorities reject the convention's ratification as it contains elements of gender ideology and violates the Croatian legislative sovereignty;
- to abolish the Convention at the European Union level because its gender-ideological parts are scientifically groundless and potentially detrimental to the identity of the individual and the future of society.
