Send a letter denouncing Australia's deportation of a peaceful pro-life speaker
In a blatant act of censorship, an American pro-life activist and speaker has been denied access to Australia.
Right To Life Australia invited Troy Newman, the president of the American pro-life organization Operation Rescue, to visit on a fortnight speaking tour of Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart and Cairns. When Terri Butler, a Labor member of the Australian Parliament, got word of the invitation, she used her influence to have Newman's travel visa revoked.
By the time Newman learned his visa had been revoked by the Department of Immigration, he was already en route. When he landed and went to take the connecting flight to Melbourne, he was denied access to the plane. Eventually, he was able to gain access to the plane, but immediately upon landing he was seized and brought before a court.
Even though the revocation of Newman's visa was politically motivated by pro-abortion forces that wanted to silence the pro-life message, the court denied Newman's request and ultimately deported him back to the United States.
"The revocation was based on a pile of lies, including the idea that I promote violence," Troy Newman posted on Facebook. "My 25-year history of peaceful, prayerful action speaks for itself."
Newman has a month to challenge the visa refusal from the United States. If successful he can return to Australia.
We need to make our voices heard loud and clear that a free, democratic society such as Australia has no business censoring speakers who promote the pro-life position! Make your voice heard by signing this petition, which sends an automatic email to the Department of Immigration and Justice Nettle (who decided Newman's case) expressing your dissatisfaction with their outrageous decision.
