Thank runner Sarah Brown for choosing life over Olympic gold!

Tragically, today it is becoming commonplace for successful women to “shout their abortions” after killing their unborn babies for their own personal success. However, this Olympic season we have witnessed the opposite. When professional athlete Sarah Brown found out she was pregnant, she embraced her daughter’s life even though it cost her a chance to place in the Olympics. Let’s rejoice in her beautiful story and celebrate her journey by thanking her for her noble decision!

Brown is one of the top female athletes in the United States and the world. In May 2015, Brown ran the 1,500-meter race in 4:03.20: faster than all the current Olympic finalists ran in Rio. However, in September she revealed on her blog that she had become unexpectedly pregnant. In terms of winning gold at the Olympics, the timing could not have been worse.

To some it might have seemed that abortion was the obvious, only option. Brown was at the height of her career; could she really give that up for a baby that she hadn’t planned? Of course, for a woman of courage like Brown, the answer was a resounding yes.

“It was one of those things where I wasn’t ready to have a kid, but also, as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I wasn’t ready for the thought of losing that kid,” said Brown. “As terrifying as it was to become a mom, I knew that that was what I wanted.”

Brown believes running is a gift from God and should be used for more than personal gain. And this determined woman never stopped running. With her doctor’s blessing, Brown continued to train for the Olympic trials throughout her pregnancy and ran in the trials just 4 months after her daughter Abigail was born. Although she didn’t qualify to compete in the Olympics, she went for gold by valuing what was most important—her precious daughter’s life.

Now, she plans to keep running, while also raising her beautiful daughter. In the words of her inspiring hashtag, #runmamarun!

You inspire us!

Dear Sarah,

We are writing to tell you how inspired and encouraged we are by your incredible story of motherhood and running. Tragically, today it is becoming commonplace for successful women to shout their abortions and sacrifice their babies for their own personal success.

However, we have witnessed the opposite this Olympic season through your story. When you found out you were pregnant, you embraced your daughter’s life even though it cost you a chance to place in the Olympics.

We rejoice in your beautiful story and celebrate your journey! Thank you for your inspiring example!

You said that “it was one of those things where I wasn’t ready to have a kid, but also, as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I wasn’t ready for the thought of losing that kid. As terrifying as it was to become a mom, I knew that that was what I wanted.”

This is a feeling that many moms can resonate with. You have used your gift of running to bring glory to God by valuing your sweet daughter’s life and continuing to run. Although you didn’t get to compete in the Olympics this time around, you went for gold by valuing what was most important. We are so excited to continue to watch you #runmamarun! You are an inspiration to us!

Sincerely,
