New Metropolitan Police LGBT Network Threatens Critic’s Family Member On Twitter - This Must End Now

An official London Police account has recently used Mafioso intimidation tactics against a politically incorrect Twitter user.
Paul Perrin, former IT Consultant and founder of RadioFreeUK.org, became involved in an argument with a “recognised staff association account for [Metropolitan Police] employees” – Met LGBT Network - on social networking site, Twitter. This ultimately resulted in the Met LGBT Network making a thinly veiled threat by mentioning a family member of Mr Perrin in the exchange.
“Delighted you’ve taken an interest in us. We’ll take an interest too. Open source is a goldmine. Give my love to [a named member of his family]”, wrote the officer.
These intimidation tactics are absolutely unacceptable. Instead of charging Mr Perrin with any wrond-doing, the Met LGBT Network made a threat against this man’s family.
The Met LGBT Network (or the Metropolitan Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Network) claims to “focus on hate crime and responding to trollers” and publicly labelled Mr Perrin a “racist” and “homophobe”. Mr Perrin said he felt intimidated, insists he has been “slurred” by the police, and is rightly demanding an apology.
UK police consider anything that is “perceived” as “offensive” as a possible hate crime, and London’s Metropolitan Police (Met) recently announced plans to spend millions of pounds on a new “online hate crime hub” to target “trolls” who offend “communities” on the internet.
In short, in response to a politically incorrect comment, an official Metropolitan Police association – the Met LGBT Network – attempted to intimidate a member of the public who has not been charged with any wrong-doing, by making a thinly veiled threat against a family member of Mr Perrin.
Is this what the rest of us should expect if/when we say something politically incorrent online?
It is disturbing enough that there exist police groups prowling the internet waiting to be offended so that they can prosecute someone for a “hate crime”, but the intimidation tactics used by the Met LGBT Network are beyond the pale.
The Network should make an apology and the individual who made this threat should be removed from his/her position.
