Tell Corporate CEOs: Don't open on Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is growing more commercialized as retailers open their doors earlier and earlier each year. This year, instead of waiting for Black Friday sales to begin on... well, Friday... Wal-Mart and Target are opening their stores at 6PM on Thanksgiving Day. Best Buy opens at 5PM. JC Penney opens at 3PM!
This insanity must stop. When corporate retailers decide to keep their doors open on Thanksgiving, it means that wage-earning employees have to go to work on a holiday, so that they cannot spend the day with their families. Moreover, Thanksgiving is a holiday that celebrates gratefulness to God for his blessings, so it seems perverse to turn it into a day of commercialized ungratefulness.
Let's tell these corporate CEOs (WalMart, Target, JC Penney, Old Navy, and Best Buy) to let their employees off-work to spend time with their families on this important holiday. Encourage them to close their stores on Thanksgiving Day!
