Chráňme náboženskú slobodu vo svete
Minulý rok sme sa v CitizenGO zapojili do dôležitej kampane za posilnenie mandátu osobitného vyslanca na podporu slobody náboženského vyznania alebo viery (FoRB) mimo EÚ. Bolo to významné víťazstvo, za ktoré vďačíme našim podporovateľom v EÚ.
Avšak už 8 mesiacov ubehlo od ukončenia úspešného funkčného obdobia Jána Figeľa a nová Európska komisia, nielenže tento mandát neposilnila, ale ani len nevymenovala žiadneho vyslanca.
Osobitný vyslanec zohral rozhodujúcu úlohu pri pomoci mnohým prenasledovaným pre vieru. Medzi najznámejšie patrí prípad Asie Bibi - pakistanskej kresťanke a matke 5-tich detí, ktorá bola na základe krivého obvinenia odsúdená na trest smrti.
Úspech mandátu oceňuje a jeho pokračovanie podporuje laická aj odborná verejnosť, medziskupina Európskeho parlamentu pre slobodu náboženského vyznania, aj osobitní vyslancci pôsobiaci na národnej úrovni (na ktorého Slovensko stále čaká). Napriek tomu osobitný vyslanec FoRB ešte stále nebol vymenovaný.
Vyzývame preto predsedníčku Európskej komisie, Ursulu von der Leyen, aby vymenovala osobitného vyslanca pre náboženskú slobodu a vieru.

Reappoint Special Envoy for Religious Freedom
Dear President of European Commission,
we urge you to renew the mandate of the EU Special Envoy for freedom of religion and belief in the world that has proven to be successful and effective over the past years.
Persecution is not on lockdown. Amid the pandemic, religious groups experienced new forms of persecution. Christians were denied access to food aid in Pakistan, India and Vietnam. They are being sent to prison by indigenous ethnic leaders in Colombia who deem them responsible for COVID-19. Religious violence is on the rise.
In the midst of this health crisis, when many religious minorities around the world are facing increasing limitations on their right to freedom of religion or belief, there is a clear need for the EU to speak with a united voice on the importance of this fundamental right.
We therefore demand you to reappoint the EU Special Envoy for freedom of religion and belief in the world.
